Update on my mom

We found out today my mom has a blood clot in her portal vein that is causing a back up of fluid in her abdomen. They are going to do a pericentesis tomorrow which means they will be draining that fluid out of her peritoneal cavity which should give her much relief from pain due to the pressure and heaviness that the excess fluid is causing in her belly.
I don't know yet if the blood clot will resolve itself after the pericentesis or they will have to remove it. I am praying that the Lord would guide her doctors, she has two wonderful ones. Dr. VanDike her liver doctor and Dr. McMasters her general doctor. And she has a Great Physician who upholds her in His Right Hand.
Thank you everyone for your prayers, I appreciate and we are making progress. This is the surgery she will have tomorrow at 7:30am.

Portal Hypertension Surgery
The liver filters venous blood from abdominal organs. Portal hypertension is increased blood pressure in the veins of abdominal organs. The primary vein that carries blood from the abdominal organs to the liver is called the portal vein. When this vein clots or when the liver develops scar tissue from disease and compresses the vein, the blood pressure in the vein goes up and portal hypertension develops. Blood backing up in the veins of abdominal organs causes typical signs of portal hypertension such as ascites to develop. Ascites is free fluid in the abdomen caused by blood being under high pressure and some of its liquid portion squeezing through the vessels and settling in the abdomen.

I will pray for the Lord's hand on your mom and for wisdom and skill for the doctors. What a blessing to live in a day and age when they can repair things like that.

About your comment, yeah, it's only hair. As long as it's not because of rebellion or disrespect we don't have a problem with it either. Mine have never done anything to theirs other than just cut it when it needs it.

I will be praying for your mom and also that you would have peace during this trying time. I'm sure she will be more comfortable once they remove that fluid. Just remember who is in control; our loving Lord.

Lisa,

I will be praying for your Mom!

Lord, we come before You today in our time of need. On behalf of Lisa and her family, we ask that You give divine wisdom to every doctor and person taking care of her. We ask that if it be Your will that You heal her. That the pain will subside and her swelling will go down. We ask that all who meet this family will be blessed by Your love through them. We ask that You use this trial to draw others to You and bring them to a saving knowledge of Your son - Our Savior Jesus! Father, we know You don't allow anything that isn't for our best and Your glory - so we trust in You this day and all that is before us - knowing You are working on our behalf. We love You Father and we thank You for another opportunity to trust in You. Thank You for giving us a chance to use our faith to bring Your name Honor and Glory! We love you and it is in Jesus' name that we pray. AMEN!

Lifting you up.
