This is a picture of my most precious Mom and Dad. My Dad served in the Korean War as a medic in the battle area. He was injured carrying a soldier whose feet were blown off by a "Bouncing Betty" when he stepped on it. My Dad was injured in the process of carrying this wounded soldier, an artillery shell blew up and my Dad lost his balance and the wounded soldier fell on my Dad and injured him. He has suffered a lifetime of pain from all of his injuries. He always tells the story about how he was a cook, a Chaplin and a medic. If they were hungry he cooked for the soldiers, if they were hurt he treated them and if they died he prayed for their families. Thank you Dad for the sacrafice you have made for my freedom and for always pushing past your disabilities to be the best Dad I will ever know.
