Thankful Thursday- Special Friendships

I am, first of all, thankful for the friend I have in Jesus. When I was a child I was scared to death of Him. Back then in the strict pentecostal Assemblies of God churches I saw Him as a judge of how I dressed, what I thought, what I did and every minute pastors were preaching about hell. In young adulthood, and even later, I realized "God is my friend." How different my kids are being taught to look at this All Powerful, Sovereign, Omnipotent Creator. Who are we that He is mindful of us?
Tito is my best friend. I have known him for 16 years and I can't imagine a day without him or our 4 wonderful children. He is a wonderful bread winner, homework helper, sounding board and a terrific example for our children. God truly blessed me with him.

I am thankful for my mom and sister. We hang out often and talk with each other, plan meals for the entire family together, and eat. We all live in the same neighborhood and my sister is 9 years older than me, sorry Anita the secret is out, but in young adulthood we became good friends and I love her so much. Our mom to is a wonder example of compassion, helpmate, mother and grandmother.

I can't forget my dear friend MiMi. We have started walking together with our boys and also started a photography class and are planning a cooking class...mmmm! When I found out I was pregnant with Joel, MiMi was one of the first to know. I visited her when she had Kolby and that is when I told her. Who thought I would be having a boy and our boys would be good friends. God knew what I wanted and needed in my life. I wanted another little boy and He knew I would need a good friend to get through the stress of it all. MiMi is an inspiration to me, a motivator. I will never be able to be as "on top" of everything as she is but she motivates me to keep climbing.

That was a great post Lisa and a wonderful tribute to Mimi. I am glad that she has you close at home so that you two can hang out. You are both blessings and I am glad to reconnect with you also in the blogging world.

Lisa, you have a very thankful heart. My parents had the same experience in their growing up years but eventually found a more grace filled place of worship.

Thank you for visiting my blog and adding your comment. I hope to be an encouragement to you.

Just with your first sentence, you've got me singing "What a friend we have in Jesus...what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer."
Thanks for reminding me of such a beautiful old hymn.
